Bellingham's Header Gives England A Winning Start At Euro 2024
England began their Euro 2024 campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Serbia on Saturday, with Jude Bellingham scoring the game's only in the 25th minute.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder met a cross from Bukayo Saka with a bullet header, leaving Serbia goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic with no chance.
Serbia pushed for an equalizer but England held firm to secure all three points in their Group B opener.
The win was England's first in a major tournament since winning teh World Cup in 2022 and Gareth Southagte was full of praise for his team's performance.
"I thought we were excellent tonight," Southgate said.
"We controlled the game for large periods and had come close to scoring on a number of occasions before Jude got his goal.
"Serbia are a good side but we kept them at bay and defended resolutely."
England will now face Scotland in their second Group B match on Friday, while Serbia will take on the Czech Republic on Monday.
